Our prosperity – and that of our customers – depends on society and natural environment being healthy. However, there are challenges, such as population growth, resource scarcity, climate change and social inequality, which threaten this health. That’s why we have made a commitment to sustainability.
We are convinced that organic coatings can contribute to sustainable development and thereby solve many of society’s pressing challenges, such as resource scarcity, shortage of clean water and conversion to renewable energy use. Eco-friendly coatings are a category of surface coatings designed to minimize their impact on the environment and human health while providing effective protection and functionality. These coatings are formulated to reduce or eliminate the use of harmful chemicals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other substances that can contribute to air and water pollution, as well as other negative environmental effects.
Our objective is to become a net-zero company. This is a huge challenge but it is necessary. To minimize our climate footprint, we need to utilize both established and newly developed methods. We also need to invest in research and innovation to make improvements beyond what is possible today. At present we are focussing on transitioning to renewable energy in production and transport, replacing fossil process coals, improving energy efficiency, and rethinking our materials supply.
We are operating in an advanced technical industry, where safety always comes first. Our vision is zero accidents. All co-workers must undertake mandatory health and safety training that has been adapted to their individual work-related risks, while all new co-workers must undertake general safety training as part of their induction process.
The European regulation on chemicals management REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) aims to provide better information throughout the whole supply chain about the effects of substances, and thereby improve protection to human health and the environment from chemical-related risks. In practice this means that all substances that are manufactured or imported into the EU in quantities greater than 1 metric ton per annum will need to be registered. All our substances are sourced via distribution chains which already have REACH registrations in place.
